Evolving an iconic Welsh brand

Caws Cenarth has been producing award-winning cheese on the family farm for three generations and is an established name in the Welsh food landscape.

SCOPE: Visual identity, art direction, illustration, packaging, display, point-of-sale, signage

They commissioned Elevator to refresh the brand and develop a cohesive suite of packaging that reflected both provenance and premium positioning.

Our approach was evolutionary rather than revolutionary. We refined the existing woodcut-style logo, introducing an illustration of the historic water wheel on the River Teifi at Cenarth to anchor the brand firmly in place. Silhouettes of the mountains leading to Cardigan Bay provide a simple but evocative backdrop.

Calligraphy and hand-written typography reinforce the artisanal, personal nature of the cheeses.

The refreshed identity was rolled out across 23 SKUs, alongside display materials, signage and digital applications.

Today, Caws Cenarth cheeses are stocked in farm shops, delis, supermarkets and restaurants across Wales.
